About

Established in late 2020, the Health Innovation and Transformation Centre (HITC) has an overall vision to form multidisciplinary teams of dynamic Federation University researchers, at various stages of their career.  Our aim is to answer complex global healthcare questions across the lifespan, which impact the health and well-being of our communities regionally, nationally, and internationally.  We will achieve this by:

  • translating basic and applied research to enhance understanding of the distinct mechanisms of disease and individual responses to treatment, ensuring the right care, in the right place, at the right time
  • being a world leader within the precision health, innovation and translational healthcare research fields
  • enhancing the University’s research reputation by bringing together a diverse, multidisciplinary critical mass of researchers, to collectively focus research efforts on
    • chronic disease, mental health and ageing
    • health workforce and quality and safety concerns
  • addressing Federal government and international health-related research priorities
  • providing a funding and mentoring platform for Higher Degree Researchers, Early Career Researchers and Women in Science
  • becoming self-sustaining in five years through government and commercial research funding and national and international research collaborations
